Summer is slipping away....

I can hardly believe the summer is over. School at the local elementary school starts tomorrow. The buses did their test drives all day today. I can almost remember how it felt as a student, knowing that I would have to go back to class...I don't miss those times, that is for sure.

Well, we had a great day today. We spent a lot of time playing in the water table outside as well as constantly looking up in the sky at the Apache helicopters that kept flying overhead. They must have passed by 20+ times. They flew so low, the noise shook the house. Nicolas loved it! He waved every time! I told him that if he yelled "hi" they would come back...they usually did!

We had a great dinner with our good friends the Peffly's...a nice dinner on the deck. A good way to end the summer.

We also have a full moon tonight. It is lighting up the sky like you wouldn't believe. I am going to try to stay up for the lunar eclipse...but that isn't until 3am...I kinda hope I am asleep!

I really need to make this a habit of doing this...We have been so busy. Being sick, getting better, getting sick again...it never ends! So, here is a pic of Nicolas at the beach...El sure does take some good pics!

Oh...and how could I forget the 1st haircut...can you believe we let it go for 2 years?? I was in no hurry to get rid of those baby curls. Especially since he really didn't have hair until he was 13 months old!

Let's Get This Started!

Well, here I am...I signed up for this BLOG quite some time ago. I wanted to do this as a electronic record of my first years with my son. Well, yesterday Nicolas turned 2 if that is any indication on how hectic life with a child has been for me.

Nicolas is my little sweetie...perfection. I can't believe our 1st two years have already passed us by! It is my new goal to post here once a week (minimum) to keep track of our hectic lives and share it with anyone out there who cares to "listen".

Ok, yesterday, May 8, 2007 Nicolas turned 2. We had planned an elaborate (in my opinion) party for him. It was scheduled for the weekend before his birthday. Well 3 days to go and Nicolas got the flu & Brian followed quickly afterwards! FIGURES...all plans were put to a halt and now the festivities will commence this Saturday.

Even though it will no longer occur on Cinco de Mayo, we are still having a Mexican themed menu...but the decorations are ALL boy. CONSTRUCTION...caution tape, orange cones, hard hats, a construction worksite cake...the list goes on! I am a bit nervous but at the same time I can hardly wait.

Nicolas DID get to celebrate his birthday, low key, on the actual day. He LOVES opening presents. He is afraid to start the tearing, but as soon as you make a little hole, it is all over! He is usually disappointed when there are clothes and keeps looking for the "real" present! He got a wonderful play kitchen & money from grandma & grandpa Flynn, clothes, a puzzle, sidewalk chalk, bubbles & other goodies form his "girlfriend" Eva. A tractor like toy from grandpa, money from grandma Brum...the list goes on! What great friends and family we have! More later...
